Karen Van der Aa
Keynotes & speaking

I speak best for people who are allowed to speak back.

A good keynote is not just knowledge, it is a story. Preferably one you don't only hear but also feel. My style combines the human and recognisable with the confronting. Sharp questions and humour. Solidly grounded, never needlessly complicated. For leadership events, strategy days and team days. In Dutch or English.

Keynote themes

Three themes, each tailored to your audience.

01

Leadership without a mask

About carrying responsibility without pretending you have everything under control. About entrepreneurship, pressure, doubt, behaviour and how you can offer footing as a leader without having to be unshakeable yourself.

02

The Generation Confrontation

About generations as a magnifying glass for how we deal with difference and change. Without boxes, with science, context and a healthy dose of confrontation.

03

Behaviour as strategy

About why a strategy only exists once it becomes visible in daily behaviour. And what that asks of systems, leaders and people.

Why me

A mirror from the inside.

I combine what rarely comes together: the eye of a historian who recognises patterns, the depth of a therapist who sees what moves below the surface, and the honesty of an entrepreneur who has lived it - mistakes included.

That makes my story on stage different. Not a model from the outside. A mirror from the inside.

Three formats, one thread

What a session can look like.

Keynote

45–60 min

Inspiring and activating, for large groups. I open with a provocative statement, build a framework with recognisable cases and close with a concrete invitation to the audience.

Workshop

half a day

In-depth and interactive, for teams and managers. Participants work with the insights themselves, applied to their own context.

Day opener or panel

on request

A sharp start to a wider programme. I set the tone and give the audience a shared vocabulary for the rest of the day.

On stage

Not a monologue. An invitation to connect.

I talk with my audience, not at them. I invite, I challenge and I leave room for silence. What stays with people is not a presentation, but a conversation that continues in the hallway, in the car home, and the week after in the management team.
